The Cruxifixion of Jesus Christ

Dimension: 30×26
Materials: 24k Gold Leaf, House Paint, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on Canvas

These pieces are an artistic interpretation of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Each panel juxtaposes two subjects/images/icons and they tell a story in sequence from left to right; Nail -> Hand -> Thorns -> Lamb -> Blood -> Water.

1. There is meaning and purpose in the choice of images and calling attention to the flaws with 24k gold leaf.

2. This piece was abandoned for 10 years, stored in my basement left to the elements (humidity), and literally decomposed the canvas and wood.

3. This piece is the catalyst of “The Old Made New” series and weaves in the influence and practice of Kintsugi in a new way.

Redemption at the Table

Dimensions: 43” Diameter
Materials: 24k Gold Leaf, Resin, Oil Paint, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on wood

Redeeming the past is possible. Going back, to go forward takes work. This #artWORK is a time capsule. 20years ago this #artWORK was a table that sat in the middle of my first apartment in San Francisco. The layers upon layers (Front and BACK!) of artists who collaborated to create a timeless imprint of themselves is captured, accentuated and preserved in a resin casing. There’s a balancing act happening, like a beautifully choreographed dance, of the past, present and future intermingle in harmony.

The backside is a clock of sorts…”what not?” ~ Rev. Ron

Man Hanged on a Tree

Dimension: 32×46
Materials: 24k Gold Leaf, Resin, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens

Taken from the ACTS 5:30 – The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.

This piece went through many years of transformations. This piece required a tremendous amount of effort to complete. There are at least 5 different iterations of the subject matter while the background and foreground evolved to adapt to the iterations.

The piece felt right only once I reached the point of exhaustion. This is it, everything I know and want to throw in, is in there. It’s a beautiful collision of contrast in; surface, colors, and materials. It is Finished.

CowFish or Jesus’s Fish?

Dimensions: 20 x 36
Materials: 24k Gold Leaf, Resin, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on wood

There are millions of fish bumper stickers in the world. The Jesus-Fish is known as a common symbol, a symbol that points to one of Jesus’s miracles.

My musings of the Biblical story are represented in this #artWORK.
– The red circle symbolizes the passage through “the blood”
– The colorful coat points is also a reference to Joseph’s story
– The 24k Gold Leaf is a reference to Kintsugi’s practice of #mending
– The resin coat seals the precious with almost invisible protection, which could also be a reference to the power of the unseen.

Rage Against The Self

Dimensions: 26×40
Materials: Gold Paint, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on Plexiglass and Wood

This is a complicated piece. It started as a collaboration with fellow artists, one of those Artists passed away a few years ago. This piece is about angry guys exploiting women because of traumatic childhoods. The exploration of feelings related to a mother/father wound, a significant other wound, or simple rejection has the power to disintegrate. As such, the piece is fragmented like a collage or tapestry of images.

Bridge to the Past

Price: $9,900
Dimensions: 16 x 26
Materials: Gold Leaf, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on Wood Panel, Masonite and Plexiglass (3x surfaces)

This piece is an attempt to mend the past. Progress in life is difficult without addressing our past sins. The dominant emotion here is anger as evidence by the broken wood panel. That panel was then screwed together on plexiglass showing the utilitarian nature of our fixing. However, the gold leaf coating the edges of broken wood panel represent God, and His ability to make broken things beautiful and precious.

The Downside-Up

Price: $4,900
Dimension: 18×20
Materials: Gold Leaf, Acrylic Paint, and Paint Pens on Plexiglass and Canvas

The upside down cow (subject matter) is recognizable yet disorienting. To expand on this idea, the gold leaf along the cracked gap calls attention to the broken. The fragility & brokenness of life is recalled intrinsically when observing the tombstone. Nothing is as it should be, but we’re still here.

Love & Hope

Created by Caleb, Maya, Lily, Lucas, and Dad.  This playful and colorful piece of artWORK incorporates the creativity of my children.  It’s hard to un-learn the teachings of art theory, but working alongside my children, they inspire me and help me see art through a fresh perspective.
